So That's What That Means?!

This is a blog about words and phrases that I have messed up as a child and as an adult. We've all done it...I just happen to be advertising my naivete (or deafness in some cases) on my blog.

1. The other day I was talking to my fiancee' and I said "A.K.A.-AS known as." He laughed at me...apparently, I've lived 26 years without knowing that A.K.A. really stands for "also known as."

2. I used to love the song Wonderwall by Oasis. Especially, when the band sang "Anna Ferah, You're my wonderwall." I think I was about 22 before I figured out that they were really saying "and after all, you're my wonderwall."

3. When I was a child, my dad was going on a business trip to CA. I wanted to go with him and begged him to take me along. He replied "There's going to be lots of vendors for adults there. I don't know if they allow children at those conventions." I said, "Well, dad, you can go on the floors with the adult vending machines and I'll stay in the hotel." He thought that was pretty funny.

4. My friend's husband happened to be explaining car parts to his wife and I one day. I was really confused and asked "What does the torkenburger do?" They both said "The what?" I replied, "You know...the torkenburger...I don't get it." They immediately started laughing at me and explained that it was called a torque converter.
