What have I been doing lately? Well, I've been reading and nesting, nesting, nesting! I decorated the walls of our nursery today. Now, I'm desperately waiting for the rug we ordered to arrive. While our nursery is almost put together...it still has a ways to go.
I have a question for the experienced parents out there. How necessary is a rocking chair? Joel and I are considering buying a comfy chair that will look good in our living room someday, but doesn't necessarily rock. I've thought about buying a cheap rocking chair (I don't like the look of regular rocking chairs in living rooms....call me snooty) but I'm not sure it's worth it. We also looked at rocking recliners (it must recline in dear hubbies opinion). Those are EXPENSIVE, but we'd probably use it a lot longer. So, all you parents rockin' babies to sleep...how much do I really need a rocking chair????

We rarely used our glider to actually rock our babies to sleep; I wanted them to learn to soothe themselves to sleep early on (and thankfully they did!). But I couldn't have done without a comfy, comfy chair with an ottoman to nurse them in. With Bop I nursed mostly in our glider and with Lu I used one of our living room chairs (because the glider was still in Bop's room). Now that they each have their own bedroom, I'm back to nursing Lu in the nursery glider. I like that it rocks, because I think it makes it a bit more comfy, but it isn't necessary in my mind. I can't say enough about ours; I'd buy it again in a heartbeat!

I'm really glad we have our rocking chairs, mostly because they were a life-saver for those many middle of the night feedings.
